Texas Coalition for Affordable Power: Helping Communities Save Taxpayer Dollars

TCAP’s members are concerned not only about the effect of rising energy prices on their own budgets as commercial customers but also about the harm to their regions’ business environment caused by increasingly expensive retail electric rates.

Cities are able to create better, more fiscally responsible budgets because of the stable and predictable energy costs available to TCAP members. Taxpayers benefit because cities do not have to cut services or pass higher energy costs on through tax increases when electricity prices spike.

Membership is open to all Texas cities and other local government jurisdictions (i.e. water districts) that purchase electricity. It is entirely member-run. The voluntary 15-member board of directors is made up of city employees and city officials and meets once a month.

For more information on membership, please contact Caitlin Bowdish. She may be reached at (512) 331-4949 ext 104 or cbowdish@rjcovington.com.
