AUSTIN, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Texas Coalition for Affordable Power (TCAP), the largest coalition of cities and special districts of its kind in the state, has announced that the City of Keller has joined the organization. The Coalition acts as a purchasing consortium, with its 165 members pooling together their collective resources to negotiate better terms and conditions for electric service.Keller_logo_green

“We are very excited to join TCAP in order to ensure favorable electric pricing and expanded services for all City of Keller facilities,” said Keller Mayor Pat McGrail.

Formed in early 2011 when the Cities Aggregation Power Project (CAPP) and the South Texas Aggregation Project (STAP) merged, the nonprofit political subdivision corporation offers its member cities a number of benefits, including electric price stability, industry consultants, legislative advocacy, and most notably, a history of cost savings. Member cities collectively have saved millions of dollars in annual electricity costs when compared to commercial rates charged by the state’s leading electric companies.

Randy Moravec, Executive Director of TCAP, was particularly pleased to add Keller to the roster. “Keller is a widely recognized and well-respected city that is home to an important part of the workforce in Dallas and Fort Worth. We are proud to have Keller as part of our growing roster,” said Moravec.

About the City of Keller

Keller, located approximately 15 miles northeast of downtown Fort Worth and 25 miles northwest of downtown Dallas, is home to just over 40,000 residents. Thanks to an extremely low crime rate, access to excellent recreation, and diverse housing opportunities, Keller in 2007 was named one of the Top 100 “Best Places to Live” in the United States by Money Magazine.

About the Texas Coalition for Affordable Power

TCAP is a coalition of more than 160 cities and other political subdivisions that purchase electricity in the deregulated market for their own governmental use. Because high energy costs can impact municipal budgets and the ability to fund essential services, TCAP, as part of its mission, actively promotes affordable energy policies. High energy prices also place a burden on local businesses and home consumers. www.tcaptx.com.
