Councils of Governments and Energy Efficiency

These cooperative organizations can assist towns and cities in the creation of energy efficiency and renewable energy programs. Below are two such organizations with useful websites. Please contact your council of government for any local information.

North Texas Council of Governments

  • The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is a voluntary association of, by and for local governments. NCTCOG was established to assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit, and coordinating for sound regional development.

FREE TRAINING June 20, 2018 at 9 a.m: Energy Star Building Portfolio Manager: Benchmarking for Energy, Water, and Waste – For Local Government Buildings 

This training will show attendees the nuts and bolts of EPA’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager®, an online tool local governments can use to measure and track energy and water consumption, as well as greenhouse gas emissions, and waste. Use it to benchmark the performance of one building or a whole portfolio of buildings, all in a secure online environment.

Houston-Galveston Area Council Environmental Awareness Roundtable

  • H-GAC hosts a quarterly Environmental Awareness Roundtable of city staff, county staff, and community organizations to facilitate the creation of effective environmental awareness campaigns.
