EDINBURG — Flipping on a light switch is easy, but generating electricity to power that light bulb is hard.

Hot steam wafted out of metal shafts more than 100 feet up in the air and a whirring sound was heard as more steam sprayed through pipe fittings of the Magic Valley Generating Station on a recent afternoon.
