Feb. 7 — Despite the president’s words, Texas said goodbye to 455 coal-mining jobs last year, more than any other state, and the new year began with the shut down of yet another coal-fired Texas power plant as natural gas, solar and wind energy increased their places in the state’s energy portfolio and demand for electricity flattened.
