Aug. 15 — Local wholesale electricity prices peaked at $1,750 per megawatt hour at 6 p.m. Wednesday afternoon as the heat continued to blanket the Houston area and the state’s grid manager put generators on notice that reserves were dropping to uncomfortably low levels.
