Houston Chronicle: New West Texas wind farm supplies power to Rhode Island and beyond

June 15 — The companies, along with others, aren’t actually building new transmission lines to move the power generated from West Texas wind thousands of miles away. Instead, they’re buying renewable energy credits through power purchase agreements from Mesquite Star, a 419-megawatt wind farm in Fisher County west of Abilene.
