Feb. 9 — For both stock and commodity investors, the gut-wrenching gyrations were a reminder that rosy scenarios can quickly darken. Stocks, which had moved from one record close to another over the past year, suffered two 1,000-point losses in four days and ended with the largest weekly drop since 2016, despite a late rally Friday.
