April 20 — The Public Utility Commission is warning Texas consumers not to use third-party organizations to enroll in a new emergency electricity assistance program. The commission said the new COVID-19 Electricity Relief Program that pays a portion of the electricity bills of Texans who have lost their job due to the spread of coronavirus does not allow enrollment by third-parties. The commission warned that groups offering to help Texans enroll may be attempts to steal personal financial data.
