June 22 — As part of the settlement of last year’s rate hike dispute, the Texas Public Utility Commission allowed El Paso Electric to add the surcharge, starting with last October’s electric bills, to recoup the more than $3 million in legal expenses created by the dispute. The rate case surcharge will last for two years, ending on Sept. 30, 2018.
