Texas Railroad Commission Chairman Barry Smitherman is urging Denton’s mayor and city council not to approve a petition to ban hydraulic fracturing within city limits.
In a letter released Friday, he dismissed claims that fracking posed a risk to public health and called oil and natural gas drilling, “key pillars of our Texas economy.”
