Scientists at the U.S. Geological Survey, at Southern Methodist University, and at the University of Texas at Austin say that most of Texas’s recent earthquakes have probably been caused by oil and gas activity. But evidence they presented in a series of peer-reviewed studies and at a four-hour-long meeting Friday morning in Austin were not enough to convince the Railroad Commission of Texas.
