DALWORTHINGTON GARDENS — The Texas Coalition for Affordable Power, the largest coalition of cities and special districts of its kind in the state, welcomes its newest member — the City of Dalworthington Gardens.

TCAP is a non-profit purchasing consortium of cities and political subdivisions that have come together to negotiate better prices and service terms for electricity procured for their own governmental use. Dalworthington Gardens is TCAP’s 162nd member.

“We are very excited to become part of the TCAP team, to add to the buying clout of so many other great cities and political subdivisions in the Texas power market,” said Dalworthington Gardens Mayor Kimberly Fitzpatrick.

Formed in early 2011, TCAP is a nonprofit political subdivision corporation that provides local governments with top-notch electricity procurement contracts, leading power market consultants, legislative advocacy and most notably — electricity cost savings.

TCAP’s newest member makes a great addition, said TCAP executive director Jay Doegey.  “Dalworthington Gardens will make our great coalition even better,” he said.

About the City of Dalworthington Gardens

Established in 1934 during the Great Depression, Dalworthington Gardens began as a subsistence Homestead Project under the authority of the National Industrial Recovery Act. Then-First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt recommended Dalworthington Garden’s inclusion in the project after visiting the rural oasis during her husband’s first term in office.  The city takes its name by combining the names of three area cities — Dallas, Fort Worth and Arlington.
