According to, consumers in Houston and Dallas are paying higher electric bills than residents in many of the nation’s top cities.

Utility costs in major U.S. cities

The WhiteFence Index compares monthly utility costs for 20 major U.S. cities. Their comparison tool shows that during February 2011 residents of Houston were paying the 2nd highest electricity prices among the cities that were analyzed. Dallas, the only other Texas city included in the report, came in at 4th highest.

A review of the site’s previous six months’ surveys shows that the higher prices facing Houston and Dallas residents is part of an ongoing trend. In each survey, Houston and Dallas are consistently near the top for high monthly electric bills.
