Margaret Somereve’s career in local government spans three municipalities and positions that range from Recycling Coordinator to Assistant to the City Manager. Margaret’s municipal career has focused on the regulation of telecommunications, cable, electric and gas franchises and rates, negotiating leases for siting wireless facilities, solid waste and water regulations and coordinating legislative issues. Prior to being the Executive Director, Margaret was the Administrative Director for the Texas Coalition for Affordable Power.
Before joining TCAP in 2012, Margaret took a short break from municipal government working in positions that included assisting a construction company responding to military RFPs, assisting in a contract for the U.S. border project, and as a legal assistant helping to set up new businesses in Texas and Louisiana.
Margaret earned her B.A. in Political Science from Angelo State University and a M.P.A. from The University of Texas at Arlington. Following undergraduate school, Margaret worked as a Campaign Coordinator for a Texas Congressman.
Margaret has served as the Texas Association of Telecommunication Officers and Advisors (TATOA) President, being voted Life Member in 2008 as well as numerous committees for the National Association of Telecommunication Officers and Advisors (NATOA). Margaret also served as President of the Urban Management Assistants of North Texas. Margaret is currently a member of the Texas City Managers Association.
Ms. Somereve is very involved in several community and religious organizations holding leadership positions in many of them.
